California offers a variety of epic road trips. Road trips are a great way to appreciate California's many beautiful landscapes.

Driving the Pacific  Coast Highway is at the top of the wish list for many visitors to the Golden State.

The PCH runs between Dana Point in the south and Leggett in the north, but most visitors choose to road trip from Santa Monica to San Francisco, or vice versa.

If you prefer a shorter coastal road trip, the Big Sur Coast is a wonderful road trip when California Highway 1 is open through the region.

The 90 miles of road between Carmel and San Simeon is packed with sights, including magical waterfalls, redwood trees, beaches, and vista points

In the winter and early spring, the California deserts offer a fabulous road trip opportunity. Death Valley NP and Joshua Tree NP are must-visits.

Dark night skies and otherworldly landscapes await you in the California desert. In the spring, you may even see the deserts in bloom!

On the eastern side of the state, a Highway 395 road trip offers spectacular vistas of the Sierra Nevada and surrounding regions.

Highway 395 through the Eastern Sierra is particularly scenic in the fall, when cottonwoods, aspens, and willows change color.

A road trip north from San Francisco to Crescent City offers the chance to see the beautiful coastal redwoods.

While a trip south from LA to San Diego takes you past a plethora of pretty beach towns and features gorgeous West Coast sunsets.
