Planning a trip to the Eastern Sierra of California? The little town of Lone Pine offers many exciting things to see and do!

Lone Pine has a spectacular setting at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Outdoor lovers use it as a base for climbing to the top of Mount Whitney, the highest peak in the lower 48.

Exploring the Alabama Hills National Scenic Area is one of the top things to do in Lone Pine. Here you can hike, climb, and camp amidst beautiful rock formations. 

The Mobius Arch is the most popular natural arch in the Alabama Hills. It frames the perfect view of the Sierra Nevada and can be accessed with a short hike. 

In town, be sure to visit the Museum of Western Film History, which showcases the many films and shows that were filmed at the Alabama Hills.

Just a few miles north, the Manzanar National Historic Site is a look back at a time when thousands of Japanese were interred here during WWII.

Drive up to Whitney Portal, where you will find the trailhead for the hike to the summit of Mount Whitney. The drive offers expansive views over the Owens Valley.

Don't want to summit Mt. Whitney? You can also walk the Whitney Portal National Recreation Trail through the beautiful scenery.
